OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM VETERANS FOR PEACE CHAPTER 119--IN SOLIDARITY FOR FREE SPEECH!

We, the local Chapter 119 of the national organization, Veterans for Peace support Free Speech and our right to evoke Free Speech on public property. We stand in solidarity with St. Pete for Peace, St. Pete Food Not Bombs, Code Pink Tampa Bay and other local peace organizations in this cause. We, veterans of wars or active duty during times of military conflict know more about war and conflict resolution than average citizens, so we are able to speak and express ourselves from a unique perspective. We demand that our local leaders act in accordance with the city, county, state and federal laws and along with the will of the people, so that we may all be free and able to present a peaceful resolution to conflicts and the other side of war to our fellow citizens. Our government cannot stifle our right to Free Speech and then call itself a "free" country.
